Croatian Mass

In conjunction with the 79th annual Croatian Day weekend, a Mass in Croatian will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church of Word of God Parish, 309 Kenmawr Ave., Rankin. Mass in Gaelic

A Mass is Gaelic will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Riverplex Complex at Sandcastle, 1000 Sandcastle Drive in West Homestead, as part of the 20th annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival. Scripture series begins

The Health and Bereavement Ministry of Holy Sepulcher Parish in Glade Mills will present a series of talks on end-of-life issues on Thursdays, from 7-9 p.m., in the school cafeteria, 1304 E. Autumn Gala

Hope for Haiti

Walnut Grove Restaurant in Fox Chapel will donate 10 percent of patrons’ checks for lunches and dinners to the Hope for Haiti Project of St. Scholastica Parish in Aspinwall from Sept. 1-19. The funds support students attending Good Samaritan’s School in St. Marc, Haiti. Patrons must mention to their servers they are supporting the Hope for Haiti Project. Young at Heart Event

The Sisters of St. Joseph in Baden will host a “Young at Heart” gala Friday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. at the motherhouse. Cost is $125, and includes a cocktail reception, catered dinner, auctions and presentation of Partner in Caring award. Guest speaker will be Bishop David Zubik and master of ceremonies is WTAE-TV anchor Mike Clark. Proceeds benefit benevolent care at Villa St. Joseph. For tickets, call 724-869-6321.

Coronet Luncheon

The DeMarillac Guild of St. Louise de Marillac Parish in Upper St. Clair will hold a 50th anniversary coronet luncheon Saturday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe, 1000 Corporate Drive, Canonsburg. Evening of comedy, mystery and dinner

Pray for priests and vocations

Forty hours of continuous adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held from 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, in O’Connor Auditorium of St. Paul Seminary, 2900 Noblestown Road in Crafton. The prayer intention of the 40-hour devotion is for priests and priestly vocations, and coincides with the Pittsburgh diocesan priest convocation in Oglebay, W.Va. Bishop David Zubik will preside at the 6:30 a.m. Mass Monday, Sept. 27, and retired Aux. Bishop William Winter will preside at the 10 p.m. Benediction Tuesday, Sept. 28. The devotion is sponsored by Catholic Men’s Fellowship, Legion of Mary, Magnificat, Serra Club, St. Pio Prayer Group, People Concerned for the Unborn Child and other lay Catholic apostolates. Walking Club
